Verify a Chinese Supplier Before You Pay T/T

Before a buyer sends an advance telegraphic transfer to a Chinese home goods supplier, the first job is not comparing prices. It is matching three names: the account holder on the beneficiary account, the seller named on the invoice, and the contracting party on the sales contract. All three must be identical, and all three must lead to the same entity in China's official company registry. If they do not match, stop and ask for a written explanation before any money moves. That check takes a minute and blocks the most common loss in advance T/T payment.

Why the product list does not spread the risk

Home goods as a category carry no risk of their own; the risk sits with the legal entity. A buyer sources to their own list, and the goods may come from the Yiwu local market or from partner factories elsewhere in China, so a scattered supply base is normal. The payment recipient cannot be scattered. Whoever signs, whoever invoices and whoever receives the money must be one and the same legal person. If any of the three is swapped for an affiliated company, a finance department collecting on behalf of another firm, or a personal account, the recovery route for that advance payment is broken. The decision is therefore simple: entity mismatch means no payment.

Two official checks a buyer can run alone

Both are public and both can be completed without any intermediary.

The first is the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System. Under the State Council's Provisional Regulations on Enterprise Information Publicity (published 2014-08-07), the market regulation authorities publish registration and filing information, chattel mortgage registrations, equity pledge registrations and administrative penalty records through that system. A buyer can confirm whether the supplier's registration is still active and whether penalty records exist. The system also carries annual reports, which enterprises file between 1 January and 30 June each year.

The second is the customs credit rating. Under the Measures for the Administration of Credit of Enterprises Registered and Filed with the Customs (Customs Administration Order No. 282, published 2026-01-13, in force from 1 April 2026, replacing the 2021 Order No. 251), customs grades enterprises into five levels: senior certified, certified, general, dishonest and seriously dishonest. Senior certified and certified enterprises are China's Authorized Economic Operators (AEO). Customs publishes the credit rating result, licensing information and administrative penalty information, and publishes how to query them. For a Chinese exporter, this column shows where it stands with customs. One limit matters: the published scope does not include individual export declarations, and no official channel offering a public per-shipment export or customs record was found.

The third check does not exist

No official Chinese channel was found that lets a foreign buyer verify a bank account number against a company name. An article claiming such an account-verification platform exists is inventing it. What a buyer can actually execute is narrower:

Any third-party "verification service" beyond that should be treated as unverified and cannot serve as the basis for a payment decision. Treating a tool that does not exist as protection is more dangerous than having no protection at all.

Warning signs that should stop the transfer

Four situations should pause payment immediately:

All four point to the same problem: once the money leaves, the recipient is not the party you can hold responsible. The practical response is to ask for the account details to be confirmed in writing on company letterhead, then re-confirm by a call to the contact you already had — not by replying to a new number given in an email.

What we are, and what we do not do

We are a sourcing agent and export trading company based in Yiwu, Zhejiang, not a factory; we have no production line of our own and do not manufacture products. Our role is to source in China against the buyer's requirements, compare prices, check goods and arrange export. Our quotation basis is FOB Yiwu, tax excluded, and our payment term is 100 percent T/T in advance.

At loading we issue a self-check record covering quantity, appearance, function, packing and marks, consistent with the approved sample, plus a packing list; we issue no inspection reports. On logistics we do not book space, do not handle customs clearance on your behalf and do not run a consolidation warehouse. Transport is arranged by the buyer or by a forwarder the buyer appoints separately, and freight rates and transit times are questions for that forwarder.

Where the account-name check fits a product order

The check does not change with the product line. A buyer ordering a 10-Tier Drawer Storage Rack with Small Bins or a 3-Tier Sink Storage Rack with Wheels still pays one legal entity, named the same way on three documents. The same applies to small electricals such as the 4L Humidifier with UV and Anion, where the file set is larger: product certification is held by the manufacturer, we hold no certification and issue no declaration of conformity. A larger document set is one more reason to fix the paying entity first, before the specification discussion starts.

The judgement

The safety of an advance telegraphic transfer does not come from the other side's assurances. It comes from the checks the buyer completes: three names aligned, two official systems queried, and a stop the moment an anomaly appears. Without those steps, even a low quotation is not worth paying in advance.

We are not a freight forwarder and we do not offer freight forwarding.
