Sourcing Home Appliances & Tools from China
Official Chinese trade data names several product categories in the Africa trade. For buyers who purchase across more than one group, here is what the data actually says — and what to pin down before you ask for a quotation.
What the official data actually names
Start with the aggregate. China's exports to Africa reached USD 225.031 billion in full-year 2025, up 25.8% year on year, while total China–Africa trade was USD 348.052 billion, up 17.7%. In the first quarter of 2026, exports to Africa were USD 60.661 billion, up 32.1%, with two-way trade at USD 92.255 billion, up 26.8%.
Country-level performance varies widely, so treat every figure below as a category-level signal, not a promise about your market.
Machinery and electrical products
This is the largest named category. China's exports of machinery and electrical products to Africa came to RMB 534.11 billion in the first half of 2026, up 28.8% year on year. The same official briefing named photovoltaic products, power transmission and transformation equipment, general machinery and auto parts as maintaining good growth momentum toward Africa. Note the ceiling here: the source names these as examples inside the machinery-and-electrical category. It does not give a growth rate for any single product family.
Home appliances
At the Yiwu level, home appliance exports were RMB 20.45 billion in full-year 2025, up 23.6%. This is a category total for Yiwu's exports, not an Africa-specific figure, and not a statement about any particular appliance type.
Hardware and tools
An official report on Yiwu's Africa trade quoted the assessment that "the African market has large demand for machinery equipment, hardware and tools and similar products". That is a named category in a government-sourced report, nothing narrower.
Labour-intensive products
In Jinhua (which includes Yiwu), exports to Africa in January–May 2025 totalled RMB 57.92 billion, up 25.5%. By category, machinery and electrical products were RMB 26.87 billion (up 23.1%, 46.4% share), and labour-intensive products were RMB 21.12 billion (up 29.7%, 36.5% share). Labour-intensive products is an aggregate — do not read a specific item into it.
One thing the data does not do: Chinese official statistics carry no category breakdown for home storage and organisation. There is no growth rate or trend figure for that group, so we do not quote one.
Before you request a quotation on appliances
Voltage and plug type for the destination market come first. Confirm the exact voltage and the plug standard your market uses, and get the supplier to state in writing which configuration they will ship.
Then lock down capacity and size range — litres or kilograms, the model sizes you need, and whether the range is continuous. Ask whether the supplier documents any certification for the model. We verify the certificates our partner factories provide, and certificates and test reports are available on request; we do not hold certificates ourselves.
Packing format and carton marks matter as much as the product. Confirm the packing format, the carton dimensions, and the exact carton marks you want printed. Finally, ask about spare parts and replacement consumables — which parts are consumable, and whether replacements can be supplied with the order.
Before you request a quotation on hardware and tools
Material and finish are the first checkpoint: the base material, the surface treatment, and how the finish is expected to hold up in your climate.
Ask which working part fails first in normal use, and whether the supplier can document a test record for that part. We verify the certificates our partner factories provide, and test reports are available on request.
Handle and grip construction deserves its own line — how the handle is fixed to the working part, and what the grip is made of. Then confirm how sets are packed and counted: how many pieces per set, how sets are counted per carton, and how the carton is marked.

Practically, we source against your list, compare suppliers, arrange samples, and arrange inspection at your request. Quotes are FOB Yiwu, tax excluded. Payment is by T/T in advance. Buyer checklist
- Appliances: voltage and plug type, capacity and size range, documented certification, packing format and carton marks, spare parts and consumables.
- Hardware and tools: material and finish, first-failing working part, documented test record, handle and grip construction, set packing and counting.
- Every item: if a number is not confirmed by the supplier, treat it as unconfirmed until it is.
Our role is export wholesale and sourcing on your behalf — we do not operate retail or distribution inside Africa.
