Live Video Goods Inspection for Yiwu Sourcing
For an overseas buyer, the decision to book a flight to China usually rests on one question: are the goods really what the catalogue shows? A scheduled live video call lets you see the actual products and packing on camera — at the Yiwu market, in our warehouse or at a partner factory — before you commit to travel. This article explains what such a call can confirm, how to arrange one, and what to do with what you see.
What a Live Video Call Confirms That a Photo Cannot
Catalogue images are usually clean, well-lit and selected. A live camera is not. That is exactly why it is useful.
Material and Finish
On a call, you can ask for the camera to move close to the surface: the weight of a fabric, the sheen of a coating, the edge of a moulded part, the inside of a seam. Photos flatten texture; a live close-up does not.
Workmanship and Stitching
Stitch density, loose threads, uneven hems, misaligned joins and the finish of stress points are visible in real time. If a detail matters to your market, ask the camera to hold on it.
Colour Against the Approved Sample
Colour is one of the most common sources of dispute. With the approved sample in hand at our end, we can place it next to the production goods on camera so you can judge the match yourself.
Packing and Carton Markings
You can see how goods are packed, how they sit inside the carton, and what is printed on the outside — shipping marks, side marks and carton labels. Catching a marking error before shipment is far cheaper than catching it at your port.
Labels and Barcodes
Product labels, hang tags and barcode placement can be shown and scanned on camera, so you can confirm they match your requirements before the order moves.
Quantity on the Floor
A camera pan across the floor shows what is actually produced or stocked, rather than a figure in an email.
How the Goods Are Stored
You can see the storage environment: shelving, stacking, wrapping and general housekeeping. For buyers whose products are sensitive to moisture, dust or handling, this is practical information.
How to Arrange the Call
Visits and calls are by appointment. The process is straightforward, but it works better when you prepare.
Step 1: Request the Call in Advance
Send us a request before the date you want to connect. Because the call has to be scheduled, last-minute requests are difficult to accommodate.
Step 2: Send Your Item List
Send the list of items you want to see so we can prepare them before we connect. Include model numbers, references or photos where you have them. The more precise the list, the less time is spent searching on camera.
Step 3: Agree a Time Slot Across Time Zones
Propose two or three windows that work for you. Yiwu time is the reference point, so a slot that suits the Middle East, South America or Africa will differ — agreeing it in advance avoids a call at an unreasonable hour on either side.
Step 4: Say Which Site You Want to See
Tell us whether you want the call at the Yiwu market, in our warehouse or at a partner factory. Different sites answer different questions: the market is useful for range and comparison, the warehouse for stock and packing, and a partner factory for production and workmanship.
A Short Note on Entering China
Depending on your nationality, you may currently be able to enter China visa-free for business, or under the 240-hour visa-free transit arrangement. The exact conditions change, so please check the official sources yourself before booking — for example the National Immigration Administration list at https://www.nia.gov.cn/n741440/n741577/c1731154/content.html and the Chinese consular service site at https://cs.mfa.gov.cn/, both checked on 2026-09-16. Note that visa-free entry does not require an invitation letter. We do not provide invitation letters or visa assistance.
What Happens After the Call
Compare Against Your Target Price
Once you have seen the goods, place what you observed next to your target price. If the finish is above what your price point allows, you can ask for alternatives; if it matches, you have removed a large part of the risk from the trip.
Check Against Your Market Requirements
Run the labels, barcodes, packing and carton markings against your own market's requirements. A live call is a good moment to catch a mismatch early.
Decide Whether to Travel
The purpose of the call is to help you decide whether a trip to China is worth it. If the goods and the site look right, you can plan the visit with confidence. If they do not, you have saved the cost of a flight.
If You Do Come to Yiwu
Visits are welcome by appointment. Sampling is available: a sample fee is charged, and it is deducted from the order payment once the order is placed. Quotations are on FOB Yiwu terms, and payment is by T/T in advance.
About Our Role
We are Yiwu Ruiheart Trading Co., Ltd., trading under the brand Novel Home Goods. We are a sourcing agent and export trader based in Yiwu, Zhejiang — not a factory. We do not own production lines and we do not manufacture products ourselves. Our role is to source in China according to buyer requirements, compare prices, inspect goods and arrange export. Where certification matters, we verify the certificates our partner factories provide, and certificates and test reports are available on request.
Arrange a Call or a Visit
If you would like to see your goods on camera before deciding on a trip, contact us with your item list and your preferred time slots, and tell us which site you want to view. We will confirm a slot and prepare the goods in advance. If you would rather see everything in person, visits to Yiwu are welcome by appointment — and we are glad to prepare a quotation on FOB Yiwu terms for the items you are considering.
